Realizing the time and economic pressures facing many consumers, Albertsons Inc. (Boise, Id.) has created a line of entrées, side dishes and desserts to cater to that audience. The Essensia offerings promise convenience, quality ingredients and competitive prices, according to the company.

Perhaps most surprising about the new line is the sheer variety of the offerings. Premium entrées include two-meat lasagna, sun-dried tomato striped ravioli with basil pesto, bacon-wrapped chicken medallions, cordon Swiss stuffed chicken breasts, and beef short ribs in a Polynesian-style sauce. Among the desserts are raspberry crème cookies, tiramisu, and chocolate mousse cake. Essensia salsas, salad dressings, BBQ sauces and mustards also are available, as are a variety of Essensia cookies and crackers.

Particularly notable are Essensia's ingredients. Rare is the private label offering boasting vine-ripened tomatoes and real cream cheese.
