Nikhil V. Dhurandhar, associate professor in the department of infection and obesity, studied women who followed that pattern five days a week or more, for eight weeks, as part of a low-fat diet. Conclusions: -- They lost 65% more weight. -- They had 83% greater reductions in waist circumference. -- They reported greater improvements in energy levels than their dieting counterparts who consumed a bagel breakfast of the same calories.
The findings were presented at the annual meeting of Experimental Biology 2007 in Washington.
