Home » Black Grain Sorghum May Target Health Food Market
April 30/College Station, Texas/Agrilife Today -- A Texas AgriLife Research scientist said there is potential for a black grain sorghum hybrid targeting the health-food market.
Dr. Bill Rooney has developed Onyx, a black sorghum hybrid. This grain sorghum hybrid is unique, because the outer layer of the grain (more commonly known as bran) is black, Rooney said. The black color is the result of high concentrations of anthocyanins, which are also antioxidants.
