Formula with Fatty Acids Appears not to Boost Baby’s Brain Power
May 30/New York/Reuters Health -- Baby formula that is supplemented with fatty acids in an attempt to mimic breast milk does not boost infants' brainpower any more than formula without extra fatty acids, according to a new review of several studies.
The results do not necessarily mean fatty acids in formula have no benefit. However, they suggest the fats do not give children the thinking and language advantage that has been tied to breastfeeding.
