A new coffee attempts to capitalize on its positioning centered around digestive health.
Tipton Mills is only one of the recent coffee introductions featuring functional dietary fiber, however. Premium coffee brand Brioni’s has joined forces with a chicory fiber expert to launch what it terms is “the first coffee marketed on a digestive health platform.”
Brioni’s Healthy Morning Coffee features the prebiotic fiber inulin and promises 4g of fiber per 12oz cup, thereby enabling the product to claim it is a “good source of fiber.” Brioni’s is quick to note the difference between probiotics and prebiotics, noting that the former are living organisms, while the latter are “non-digestible substances that pass through the stomach and small intestine unchanged until they reach the colon, where they nourish beneficial bacteria.”
