Research shows a generation gap exists in the dieting habits of Americans.
January 7/Chicago/Press Release -- New research from The NPD Group shows that a generation gap exists in the dieting habits of Americans, with older consumers dieting much more often. More than 25% of Baby Boomers are on a diet, but only 12% of Millennials report dieting.
"Millennials will diet more as they age, but the core dieters in this country are Boomers," said Harry Balzer, author of "Eating Patterns in America" and chief industry analyst for NPD. "But fewer of us are dieting. Americans are looking for other ways to define health."
