Symrise NA’s new SymLife Sweet flavors provide sweetness modulation solutions in a variety of food and beverage applications. The new SymLife Sweet series is part of Symrise’s “Taste for Life” product platform.
“With the advent of more and more ingredients that are being used to replace sugar, there has been an increase in customers who are turning to SymLife Sweet as a viable solution,” says Emmanuel Laroche, vice president of Symrise’s marketing and consumer insights group and global marketing leader. “In general, we have seen a great deal more interest and success in these flavors.”
Symrise certainly sees companies responding to consumer demand for reduced-sugar products.
“Health conscious consumers – and their number keeps growing – are looking for better nutrition without compromising great taste so it’s logical that interest in reduced-sugar and low-sugar products is high,” says Laroche. “Consumers reject high intensity sweeteners with off-tastes and want more authentic sweetness. SymLife Sweet overcomes the challenges of low- and no-calorie sweeteners that have disappointed these consumers. For example, it works well in products formulated with stevia to help provide a more natural sugar taste.”
Products formulated with SymLife Sweet can maintain their natural sweetness while reducing sugar by as much as 35%. In addition, SymLife Sweet flavors feature high performance masking components.
“Our experienced formulators are available to work with customers who are interested in developing products with reduced-sugar content using our breakthrough SymLife Sweet flavors,” Laroche adds. “They can help product developers optimize taste while meeting the new parameter to provide ‘Added Sugars’ on the nutritional panel of many foods. We’re ready to assist customers from product concept to the final stages of product development, working side by side with them as true partners.”
