News: New Mad Cow in Canada

February 26/Ottawa, Canada/Xinhua General News Service -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said Tuesday a new case of mad cow disease had been found in the country's western Alberta province.

The disease was discovered in a six-year-old dairy cow, whose age and location are consistent with previous cases, Canadian Press reported.

No part of the carcass entered the human food or animal feed chains, the agency stressed.

This is the 12th case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy in Canada since the first one was discovered in a cow from Alberta in May 2003.
