Smithfield Buys Campofrio Unit

Campofrio Alimentacion SA said it is selling its fully owned Sociedad 814 Americas Inc. unit to Smithfield Foods Inc. unit Patrick Cudahy Inc. for $8.55 million.
In a statement, Campofrio said the divestment is part of its strategy of selling non-strategic assets. Smithfield holds about 22% of Campofrio.
