Halal certification has been granted to a major developer of authentic meat and meat-like vegetarian flavors, leading to a number of potential new markets in the Islamic world. Halal is the dietary standard for Muslims, and certification ensures food and consumable products are in conformance with that standard. Blue Mountain Flavors, which already offers 100 meat-like flavors that are kosher, halal and vegetarian, received the certification from the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America. Potential markets include not only the Middle East, but Malaysia and the Philippines, along with American manufacturers who sell products in those markets.
