Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) will expand its NovaLipid line of zero/low trans-fat oils and margarines at its Quincy, Ill., enzyme interesterification facility over the next year. This facility is the first commercial enzyme interesterification facility in North America. The increased capacity will help satisfy the food industry's demands, ADM predicts, as the company moves forward to meet the January 1, 2006, FDA labeling requirement.

"We remain committed to providing innovative solutions to meet our customers' needs," stated Paul B. Mulhollem, president and chief operating officer of ADM. "ADM's unique enzyme process allows us to provide various zero/low trans-fat oils and fats that may be used in baking, confectionery, snack, frying and cereal products."

ADM's NovaLipid portfolio includes naturally stable oils, tropical oils, blended oils, and enzyme interesterified shortenings and margarines to provide alternatives in various food applications.
