The National Consumers League (NCL), the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) and others have submitted a petition to the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). The groups propose a uniform “Alcohol Facts” label on alcoholic beverages to give consumers clear information about alcohol content, serving sizes, calories and ingredients.
The hope is that the labels would “empower consumers to make informed decisions about the products they consume.” The difficulty will rest in determining exactly who has control over the decision.
