January 31/Airline Industry Information -- The board of directors of Cyanotech Corp., a microalgae technology company, announced the appointment of Ralph Carlton as an independent director.

Carlton will also be a member of the audit committee.

In the past, Carlton has served as chief strategy and development officer of DEKA Research and Development. He also worked for the Coca-Cola Company, in roles including vice president, Finance and Strategy, Corporate Innovation and Development; vice president, Strategy and Planning; and senior vice president, Coca-Cola Ventures.

Previously, Carlton served as senior vice president of Finance and Administration and chief financial officer of IDEXX Laboratories. He also worked as an investment banker at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette and at Goldman Sachs.
