FFP’s VegStable Plus earns patent as clean label alternative to phosphates in meats
Florida Food Products, LLC (“FFP”), a leading innovator, formulator, and producer of natural, clean label ingredient solutions, announced the issuance of a new patent granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for its rice bran extract marketed under the VegStable® Plus brand. VegStable® Plus is a breakthrough all-natural, plant-based ingredient for friendly labeling that replaces chemical ingredients like starches, gums, phosphates, and carrageenan and enhances the juiciness, flavor, and texture of meat products.
The USPTO has issued U.S. Patent No. 11,785,970 entitled, “Method for treating meat and seafood products with rice bran extract.” This patent adds to FFP's existing intellectual property related to VegStable® Plus, as they had previously received Patent No. 11,484,051 on November 1, 2022, entitled "Rice bran extract compositions." Both patents pertain to compositions involving rice bran extract and methods for making and using rice bran extract as a clean label alternative to chemical phosphate.
