October 25/Prepared Foods Magazine -- Under the new ownership of Solbar, Israel, Shaul Shelach has been appointed CEO. Shelach replaces Uri Eshel, who returned to serve as CEO during the period of Solbar's reorganization in 2006-2007. Shelach brings to Solbar a wealth of management experience at major Israeli food company, Elite-Straus; and globally with Unilever. Shelach graduated with a BSC in Industrial Engineering and MBA from Tel Aviv University.

"Following many years in senior management positions at one of the largest Israeli food company's, I joined Solbar convinced we are well-positioned to grow our core businesses and develop new ventures,” says Shelach. “In the world of soy, Solbar has all the necessary elements, from excellent human resources and extensive know-how to proven production facilities to strengthen our position as a major player in the market."

As Solbar Industries Ltd. recently exhibited at the FIE-London, this year, Solbar will feature a growing range of isolated soy proteins, designed for food and meal supplement applications, and soy isoflavones for innovative health & wellness applications. Contex textured soy concentrates and Bontex steam-textured soy proteins continue to be a key ingredient in the extension of pasteurized and retorted meat products, vegetarian meals and pot noodle-type soups.
