This group, composed
of children of Gen Xers who had children in normal child-bearing
years, children of Baby Boomers who deferred child bearing, and
immigrants and their children, is the most racially and ethnically
diverse in U.S. history. About 36% of Millennials (also known as
Generation Y) are members of a minority group, compared to 14% in
our grandparents' time.
The term "Millennials"
was popularized by William Strauss and Neil Howe, co-authors of
Millennials Rising. The Next Great Generation, published
in 2000.
