Hitting the Shelves: Health Nuts -- September 2009
Snack foods have always been a staple for today’s
consumers. Recently, however, there has been more concern with how most snacks
are unhealthy and full of calories and fat. In the U.S., Diamond Foods is
hoping to capitalize on the demand for more nutritious snack foods with the
introduction of Emerald Baked Nut Chips in a zesty ranch flavor. Made with
almonds and 15g of whole grains per serving, the chips are positioned as a
healthier alternative to the standard potato chip. Nut chips are a
non-traditional way to consume nuts, as well as a healthy option for those who
enjoy snacking. With people looking for more nutritional value in their snacks,
nuts provide a way for the healthy snack market to expand.
