Low-carb Diet and Spinal Injuries
October 21/Chicago/Chicago Sun Times -- A low-carb, high-fat diet might aid recovery from spinal injury, researchers said.
A study of paralyzed rats found that those fed the diet were able to move their injured paws more frequently after 14 weeks than rats fed a standard diet. More research is needed to see if humans with spinal-cord injuries might also benefit.
