Hitting the Shelves: Introduction in Sports Performance -- February 2010
Although products touting sports
recovery benefits are not new, they mostly have been limited to the beverages
and bars segments. Such products are typically rich in protein and
antioxidants. However, there is space for introductions of this nature in the
baked goods segment. Nutrilite has launched a lemon-flavored Sports Cookie,
designed to help post-workout recovery and energize endurance. The cookies are
said to provide a carbohydrate-to-protein ratio that is optimized for faster
muscle recovery and reduced muscle damage. The artificial color, flavor and
preservative-free product provides antioxidant protection from harmful free
radicals generated by intense and prolonged exercise.
