As part of its mission to enrich the lives of those it touches, Edlong Dairy Technologies has made a generous donation to Blessings in a Backpack to provide food on the weekends for elementary school children who might otherwise go hungry. The donation covers the cost of food for 100 children in Chicago’s Northwest suburbs in 2018. In early February, Edlong volunteers will organize and pack the food for distribution to students.

“We are excited to add Blessings in a Backpack to the extensive list of organizations that we support,” says Edlong President and CEO Laurette Rondenet. “There are more than 13.1 million hungry children in the US, and we are doing our part to help prevent weekend hunger for local students who face food insecurity,” she adds.

At the company’s Pilot Plant, local Edlong volunteers will pack 1,000 backpacks with nonperishable food while having a fun, team-building experience. Employees are invited to participate in the event set-up, packing or both activities.
