January 17/Kailua-Kona, HI/Health & Beauty Close-Up -- Brent Bailey has commenced his positions as president and chief executive officer of Cyanotech Corp.

He was named to those positions and as a director of the company by the board of directors on November 8. According to the company, Bailey brings nearly 30 years' experience as an operating executive, in leadership and marketing roles, and a consistent track record of profitably building nutritional supplement, food and personal care businesses.

The company noted he replaces David I. Rosenthal, who served as Interim president and CEO since February 27. Rosenthal remains a director, in which position he has served since November 2000.

Cyanotech Corp., a provider of microalgae technology, produces BioAstin Natural Astaxanthin and Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica -- all natural, functional nutrients. They are FDA reviewed and accepted as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) for use in food products.
