Low-salt Label Equals Lack of Taste in Consumer Minds
March 29/Melbourne, Australia/Deakin University -- Research by Deakin’s Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition Research suggests that reduced salt labels affect consumers’ taste perception, making reduced-salt products appear less tasty compared to the same products without such labels.
The results of the research have important implications for how the food industry and health professionals approach the promotion of salt reduced products, said Deakin health expert Dr. Gie Liem.
