Katjes Magic Candy Factory, the UK-based company best known for original conceptual thinking and Dylan’s Candy Bar, a confectionery emporium and lifestyle brand, join together to bring a 3D candy printer to the United States, with the Magic Candy Factory naming Dylan’s Candy Bar the exclusive partner for domestic retail and online sales.
Known for merging the worlds of art, fashion and pop culture with candy, Dylan’s Candy Bar can now add high-tech to its credentials. The Magic Candy Factory is a food safe 3D food printer.
The Magic Candy Factory printer will be featured in-stores and will offer Dylan’s Candy Bar customers over 100 different designs to choose from, the ability to write names or special words, draw candy creations and print greetings on gummy cards to create gifts. Candy lovers can also select a color, flavor combination and a unique “magic” finishing added to their own personal masterpiece. The price of the candy design is a flat rate of $20 per print, and the gummies are vegan, gluten, as well as dairy free and instead of being made with gelatin, they are made with all natural fruit and vegetable ex-tracts to create something natural.
Dylan Lauren, a candy industry 14-year veteran credited as inventing specialty retail in the confectionery space, said, "Magic Candy Factory is an incredible innovation. Dylan's Candy Bar has been excitedly watching the trends in candy personalization. We can't wait to dazzle our customers with the magic creativity of Willy Wonka's factory, merged with modern day technology!”
“The Magic Candy Factory is a one of a kind innovation and we are so excited to bring our 3D printed confections to the USA. I have been a fan of Dylan’s Candy Bar since I started in the confectionery industry 6 years ago,” says Melissa Snover, Managing Direc-tor of Magic Candy Factory. “Their incredible experimental retail environment and ‘cus-tomer comes first’ service make them the absolute perfect fit for the magical innovation we developed.”
The Magic Candy Factory is based on Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) in which a special mixture of natural vegan ingredients is heated up and applied using a nozzle to produce different shape combinations. The shapes are then turned into coded instructions, from an easy-to-use, user-friendly tablet in-store, alerting the printer where, at what speed and what frequency is needed to apply each of the layers. The impressive process takes approximately 10 minutes from start to finish, with a light-speed 3 to 5 minutes for printing time.
Dylan’s Candy Bar and the Magic Candy Factory will launch with eight different colors as well as a corresponding flavor combination from a traditional Sublime Strawberry to a Beautiful Blackcurrant. To finish off their own personal masterpiece customers can add a unique “magic” finishing such as glitter, sour or fizzy “dust.” Customers can expect additional options in the future to suit different seasons, cultures and locations.
