Replace Dairy Fat with Palm Oil

October 2011/Prepared Foods -- IOI-Loders Croklaan recently introduced Freedome® IC500, an innovative dairy fat replacer that is a drop-in solution claimed to provide frozen dessert manufacturers with the ability to reduce and control costs, while maintaining desired end-product quality. Based on palm oil, Freedom IC500 is a product that offers manufacturers a solution relative to dairy fat, but has a less volatile raw material base in regards to price. Plus, it provides the unique functionality and eating qualities needed in the frozen dessert segment. According to Tim Surin, director of sales and marketing at IOI-Loders Croklaan, the product “significantly reduces formulation cost by replacing higher cost commodities, such as dairy fat or coconut oil. Further, manufacturers will see [that] a reduction in saturated fat content per serving will be lower in most applications.” IOI-Loders Croklaan, www.ioigroup.com pf
