Ingredion says its new NOVATION Endura 0100 functional native starch withstands harsh processing conditions and helps processors create more natural and additive-free products, including dressings, yogurts, UHT-processed soups and frozen meals.
Officials say the NOVATION Endura 0100 starch series maintains desired product texture under high heat and shear and delivers excellent stability during shelf-life, including chilled and frozen storage. The clean flavor profile requires no masking, even in delicately flavored products.
“With more consumers around the world clamoring for ‘natural’ front-of-package claims and simple back-of-package ingredient lists, we wanted to help manufacturers seize the opportunity for clean label positioning,” says Aaron Edwards, Ingredion’s director, Global Wholesome Ingredients. “With NOVATION Endura 0100 starch, manufacturers now can get both a clean label and great textures in their most challenging applications, such as a glossy rich creaminess in spoonable dressings, yogurts and dairy desserts, and a hearty thickness in soups and sauces.”
Ingredion says it interviewed 300 consumers in 11 countries in and learned that nearly 73 percent of consumers worldwide say a short, simple ingredient list is “important” or “very important” when considering food and beverage purchases. Research also suggests that 60 percent of consumers worldwide would switch brands for a “natural” label.
