PepsiCo add a craft soda to its portfolio in an effort to participate in a larger craft soda trend.

The beverage maker will introduce its new 1893 Original Cola and 1893 Ginger Cola to retail locations nationwide. 1893 refers to the year that Pepsi became a company. The soda is made with kola nuts, certified fair trade sugar and sparkling water.

The craft soda trend follows a tendency for the millennial generation to drift toward products that exude authenticity and quality, and which typically are produced in small batches.

In 2014, the company introduced Caleb's Kola, a naturally sweetened, one-serving soda in a brown glass bottle. The product was named after Pepsi's founder, Caleb Bradham.
