FSMA Preventive Controls Regulation Overview and Workshop with U.S. FDA

6/25/13 8:00 am to 2:30 pm MST
Hilton Garden Inn Twin Falls
1741 Harrison St. N.
Twin Falls, ID
United States
Contact: Kellee Hardesty
Jeff Kronenberg of TechHelp and the University of Idaho School of Food Safety will host this workshop. The Workshop also features Charles Breen, District Director of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Seattle District. The cost is $65/per person or $32/government employee. Includes continental breakfast, lunch, refreshments and course materials. Government employee registrants must enter a code word during checkout for the discount. Obtain the code word from Paula using the contact information listed above. This is an excellent opportunity for food processors to learn details of the new proposed FDA regulation, Current Good Manufacturing Practices and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food, and in turn provide informed feedback to FDA during the comment period which will end September 16, 2013. The full text of the proposed regulation can be found in the Federal Register, Volume 78, No. 11, January 16, 2013, page 3646. The Workshop will help attendees become more knowledgeable on upcoming significant changes to food safety regulations and will help them understand what potential modifications will need to be made to their food safety and HACCP programs. The FMSA was signed into law by President Obama on January 4, 2011. This new law is the largest expansion of the FDA authority over the food industry since the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act in 1938. It applies to all food and dairy processors who manufacture products that are not regulated by USDA FSIS, to importers of food, and to farms. The impact of this law goes beyond the food industry, and FDA will soon be proposing another regulation regarding the safety of animal feed and pet food.
