ESHA introduces Genesis R&D Food Formulation & Labeling version 11.7, the latest update to the popular nutrition analysis and labeling compliance software.

This release adds extra functionality for labeling and packaging with the all-new “Attributes” feature. With the Attributes feature, Genesis R&D users can track bioengineered (BE) materials for accurate food product labeling and easier compliance.

The USDA’s National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard regulations will require food products made with bioengineered material disclose that information on their packaging by Jan. 1, 2020.

“Food labeling laws are complex, and our mission is to ensure that Genesis R&D makes it easier for users to comply with the regulations,” says Craig Bennett, CEO of ESHA. “When the USDA finalized the BE Labeling disclosure, our software development team started working on this new Attributes feature to simplify the declaration process for our users.”

Along with monitoring and documenting bioengineered materials, users can also add their own Attributes to track additional food characteristics, such as gluten-free or no artificial flavoring.

Other updates to the software include subtle clarifying UI changes and the addition of hundreds of unique foods and ingredients to the nutrition database.
