Drinks Americas Holdings Ltd. announced the formation of its fine wine company, Drinks Global Imports LLC. Drinks, a diversified beverage company, has commenced importing super-premium wines from around the world. The company has pre-sold selected products it has sourced from Australia, New Zealand, France and Italy and is preparing to deliver to the market container quantities of selected products.

Richard Shiekman, an industry veteran with extensive experience in fine wines, will head Drinks Global Imports, reporting to J. Patrick Kenny, CEO of Drinks. Shiekman has worked at retail, wholesale and production levels both in the U.S. and Europe. "Drinks Global Imports will develop and represent wines with a superior ratio of quality to price," said Sheikman. "We will over-deliver quality at every price point. The opportunity to build a portfolio of super-premium fine wines for our customer base is exciting. We are well underway, with our Italian, New Zealand and French selections already being ordered and generating company business."

Kenny extolled the virtues of Shiekman as the choice to further build Drinks Global Imports, "His ability to taste, evaluate and select the viability of wines, coupled with his extensive understanding and grasp of the wine industry, is evidenced by how quickly this business is scaling up," said Kenny.

Kenny further stated, "Drinks intends to continue to build a full beverage portfolio, and a selection of super-premium wines is a key part of that strategy. The consumer demand, margin structure and distribution fit all make this aspect of the beverage business very attractive to Drinks Americas."

The initial French product group includes Domaine N. & G. Fevre from Chablis, Domaine Nicholas-St. Jemms from Crozes-Hermitage, Dominque Foucher selections from the Loire Valley, Cave Chaintre from Macon, and a select group of "propietaires" from the Cote d'or in Burgundy. The Italian wines include selections from Palazzi in the Veneto and Borgo Cipressi in Tuscany. Additionally, Tenuta San Gorgio offers a great Prosecco. New Zealand selections come from Mariner's Bay -- Marlborough's Sauvignon Blanc and South Island's Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
