Groupe Danone said it acquired the Egyptian yogurt producer Olait, raised its stake in the Tunisian company Sotubi to 49% from 20% and created a joint venture with Sotubi to market biscuits in Algeria.
Danone will have a 51% stake in the Algerian biscuit venture.
The moves are aimed at reinforcing the group's position in North Africa, where its annual sales exceed 1 billion euros ($1.2 billion).
