November 13/London/MarketWatch -- British confectioner Cadbury Schweppes on Tuesday filed a registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to spin off its Cadbury Schweppes America Beverages (CSAB) drinks unit. As reported, Cadbury intends to separate its beverage business, which is home to brands including Snapple, 7UP and Sunkist, from its global confectionery business.

After the distribution, CSAB will be a separate company and will own and operate Cadbury's beverage business in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, the SEC filing said. CSAB said it expects the distribution to be completed in the second quarter.
