Beverages that tout relaxation benefits, although still somewhat niche, are gaining ground. More and more manufacturers are introducing products in various formats and with ingredients known for their relaxing properties. For example, RelaxZEN encourages consumers to “find your zen with RelaxZEN,” a shot-sized beverage intended to instantly calm the mood during air travel, specific to time of day. The RelaxZEN Day Flight Sky Berry Relaxation Beverage is the daytime variety, which aims to lower consumers’ stress levels on daytime flights, without causing drowsiness. The drink contains mood-enhancing ingredients, such as l-theanine, passion flower and açai extracts, vitamins B12 and B6, and gama-aminobutyric acid (GABA). Packaged in an airport security-friendly format, the drink also comes in a NightFlight variety, which is said to ensure a peaceful period of sleep on red-eye or international overnight flights.
