January 2012/Prepared Foods -- Coca-Cola is revamping its can packaging, switching from the longstanding and iconic red label to a whiter hue. The initiative, scheduled to grace the beverage giant’s signature cola through February 2012, is about more than a simple brand strategy, however. The white Coke cans are an effort to raise awareness and funds to protect polar bears, a cause to which Coca-Cola has committed up to $3 million.Editor’s note: Due to consumer complaints (many had confused it with Diet Coke), Coca-Cola plans to redesign to the all-white can.pf
