March 20/Chicago/Press Release -- Gary Rietz joined Blommer, a North American cocoa processor and ingredient chocolate supplier, as its new chief information officer (CIO). 
 
Rietz joins Blommer with CIO experience in the consumer packaged goods and business services industries. His experience spans food companies including Dean Foods Company, Ubiquity Brands Inc. (Jays Foods) and Quaker Oats Company, as well as ATC Corporation, a global supply chain management services company.  Within each of these organizations he established and led IT initiatives to implement new systems and application transformations to support process and organizational structures.
 
In the CIO role at Blommer, Rietz will provide technology vision and leadership. This position is focused on developing, leadings and providing oversight on plans and projects to increase the effectiveness of IT applications and support for Blommer’s current business, as well as future initiatives, to increase the level of automation as appropriate to our needs throughout the manufacturing and business operations and to develop IT support necessary for growth plans and any future expansion objectives. 
 
Rietz attended Purdue University, where he received a bachelor of science in Accounting and Computer Science, as well as the University of Chicago to receive his MBA in Finance, Economics and Accounting.

Tom Hyland joins Blommer in the role of corporate manager master planning & scheduling.  Hyland most recently worked at Datwyler Packaging Inc., as the logistics/supply chain manager. During his tenure there, he was responsible for all aspects of supply chain, including planning, raw material and indirect material procurement. He obtained his bachelor of science in Business Logistics from Penn State University. 

In his new role at Blommer, Hyland will be focused on developing the ongoing master production plan to satisfy customer demand while carrying minimum effective on inventory.
