Beyond Meat partners with Daiya Foods to make sausage pizza from plants
“Daiya asked us to make a plant-based sausage – which was not in our product portfolio – to top the ‘Supreme Pizza’ and we developed a gluten-free, non-GMO sausage crumble made out of pea protein. Now in stores, the ‘Supreme Pizza” allows everyone to enjoy a favorite dish, plus Beyond Meat product in a new way,” said Ethan Brown, Beyond Meat CEO and founder.
“When we needed a sausage topping for our pizza, we knew to turn to Beyond Meat and they were able to cook up a plant-based product that tastes remarkably like sausage made from animal,” added Michael Lynch, Daiya Vice President of Marketing.
The “Supreme Pizza” offers a medley of flavors with Beyond Meat’s pea-protein based sausage crumbles topping Daiya's dairy-free Mozzarella Style Shreds, a blend of peppers, onions and tomato sauce on a gluten-free crust. It is free of animal fat, cholesterol, gluten, soy, GMOs, and preservatives.
Beyond Meat’s products include chicken strips and tenders, Beast burgers and sliders, beefy crumbles and meatballs. All are available at retailers nationwide, including Whole Foods, Sprouts, Publix, and Safeway among others.
