Milk Specialties: Organic Proteins

Milk Specialties can supply organic WPC’s, MPC’s, lactose and NFDM for health and sports nutrition products

Today’s consumer is on the hunt for organic products. According to a 2015 industry survey conducted by the Organic Trade Association, organic food sales now represent almost 5% of total US food sales and U.S. consumer sales of organic products exceed $39 billion.

Responsive to market needs, Milk Specialties Global (MSG) is ready match growing organic demand. The company has organic certification at three facilities in Mountain Lake, Minn.; Visalia, Calif.; and Norfolk, Neb. Milk Specialties has the ability to produce organic WPC’s, MPC’s, lactose, and NFDM. We have strategically positioned our Norfolk facility so that it can process all four of these organic product categories, dubbing it our “specialized” facility.

Milk Specialties used the IFT Expo to showcase several on-trend applications, such an organic, ready-to-drink beverage featuring Organic MPC 85. This product is a low-calorie high protein ingredient, which is stable through ultra-high heat processing. That helps manufacturers reduce stabilizer use and formulate clean label, high protein beverages.

Milk Specialties also included BARsoft™, a proprietary dairy protein mix. This product is designed for optimal sensory attributes for high-protein bar applications, while maintaining a soft texture for longer shelf life.

Milk Specialties Global is an industry-leading manufacturer of nutritional ingredients for the health and wellness, performance nutrition and functional food industries, with manufacturing facilities in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, Illinois and California. The core of MSG’s business is in high protein ingredients (such as whey protein isolates and concentrates – 34% to 80%, milk protein concentrates – 70% to 85%, micellar casein and isolates as well as hydrolysates), lactose and permeate as well as value-added ingredients.
