Jungbunzlauer announced an increase of xanthan gum production capacity in its manufacturing facility in Pernhofen, Austria. Driven by growing customer demand across the food and industrial segments worldwide, the company has made a substantial investment in new, state-of-the- art fermentation and purification equipment as well as a new, fully automated packaging line.

Coming on stream in Q1 2020, the expansion of the Pernhofen site will further strengthen Jungbunzlauer’s capacity to provide high quality xanthan gum grades in numerous applications. The investment underlines the company's commitment to being the most reliable and sustainable producer, supporting the growth of existing and new customers. Product from the expansion will be of the usual high quality, with no impact on current product specifications and providing all relevant certifications, according to the company.

In line with Jungbunzlauer’s vision “From nature to Ingredients®” and based on its commitment to contribute to healthier, safer and more sustainable consumer products, the company will continue to only produce xanthan gum by fermentation of natural, non-GM carbohydrates, strictly using non-GMO microorganism strains. In addition, the new, state-of-the-art production equipment will further optimize the company's production processes, helping to reduce energy and water consumption, and minimize waste streams.
