HITTING THE SHELVES

New Products Showcasing Juices

A survey of February 2021 launches including a chocolate cherry juice, a superfruit juice for immunity and low-sugar smoothies

CHERRiSH Cherry Chocolate
February 8, 2021

Prepared Foods profiles new prepared juices.

Popular Pairing

Cherish Your Health, Bellevue, Wash., has built its CHERRiSH brand portfolio with USA-grown Montmorency tart cherries and Bing cherries. The company’s latest new flavor offering takes on a popular pairing: Cherry Chocolate.

“We’re excited to continue building on our brand’s growth and momentum with the addition of this newest flavor of CHERRiSH,” said Dan Haggart, CHERRiSH founder and CEO.

The newest addition will join the rest of the CHERRiSH beverage portfolio: Cherry Original, Cherry Blueberry, and Cherry Pomegranate. Like other flavors, new Cherry Chocolate does not contain added sugar, filler juices or artificial ingredients. It also does not contain any dairy—but just a subtle flavor essence of natural chocolate extract to balance the tartly sweet cherry juice.

Cherry Chocolate CHERRiSH is available in 12oz bottles through e-commerce on the CHERRiSH website, www.cherrish.com, and the Amazon marketplace. It also debuted last October in major grocery retail stores nationwide.

Superfruit Immune Support

Amarumayu Buriti Superfruit Juice
FUNCTIONAL FRUITS FROM THE AMAZON

Amarumayu LLC, Los Angeles, said it launched new immunity beverages from the Peruvian Amazon—on Amazon.

Officials say Buriti Superfruit Juice, which includes juice from the native cocona fruit, supports the immune system and helps rejuvenate skin, thanks to its high concentration of vitamins A and C; omegas 3, 6 and 9; potassium, iron, and calcium.

Camu Camu Superfruit Juice boasts 570% DV of vitamin C in each 16oz. serving. It is an antioxidant-rich juice derived from nature’s most potent source of vitamin C. Officials say Camu Camu contains 50 times as much vitamin C as an orange.

Standing behind the new brand is the Añaños family, which has lived in the mountains of Peru. They founded AJE, a multinational beverage manufacturer, more than 30 years ago.  Witness to the country’s threatened rainforest, they created Amarumayu as a bio-commercial enterprise to protect the Peruvian Amazon from deforestation.

Amarumayu’s  Buriti with Cocona and Camu Camu Superfruit Juices are available on Amazon. The drinks come in 16oz aluminum bottles and a six-pack sells for $35.94.

New on Shelf

Silly Juice Flavors
NEW TWISTS ON CLASSIC FLAVORS

After launching its products online, Silly Brands Inc., City of Industry, Calif., since has secured in-store retail distribution with multiple grocery stores in southern California and Washington and Oregon.

“We’re so excited to bring Silly Juice’s twists on classic flavors to grocery store shelves across the west coast, and meet the consumer’s demand to get their hands on our unique varieties,” said Keith Davis, CEO and co-founder of Silly Juice. “Expanding to in-store retail for the first time through these meaningful partnerships is the next step in bringing the Silly Juice experience to families across the country, and delivering a burst of mouthwatering flavor that reminds them to take a break in their days and get a little silly.”

Silly Juice is available in six varieties including Cool Blue Freeze, Orange Cream, Pink Strawberry Swirl, Red Apple Cherry Blossom, Watermelon Fruit Punch, and White Grape Burst. Made with real juice and no high fructose corn syrup, Silly Juice is non-GMO, gluten-free, low in sodium, and contains no added colors, the company says.

Silly Juice is available at select Albertsons, Vons, Pavilions, and Safeway stores for $1.59/10fl. oz. bottle. Silly Juice is also available direct-to-consumer at the brand’s online store for $15.95/12-pack.

Better For You

Natalie's Orchid Island Nourish and Immunity Juices

Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Co., Ft. Pierce, Fla., expanded its Holistic cold-pressed juices line with two new varieties: Nourish and Immunity.

Nourish is poised to be the staple green variety in the Holistic line with an assortment of vibrant, green superfood ingredients. Nourish components include cucumbers, antioxidant-rich kale and spinach. Other ingredients include fresh pineapple, celery, lime cilantro and a kick of jalapeno for spice.

The new Immunity variety contains natural properties that enhance the function of the immune system and is rich in vitamin-C. Main ingredients include fresh oranges and tangerines. Other supporting ingredients include pineapple, aloe vera and sweet basil.

Natalie’s Holistic Juices are available at select grocers nationwide at $2.99 for a 10oz bottle.

Low-Sugar Smoothies

Koia Fruit Smoothies
SMOOTHIE TASTE, TEXTURE WITH LESS SUGAR

Koia, Los Angeles, says new Koia Fruit Smoothies contain only 9g of sugar per bottle, which equates to approximately 80% less sugar than leading fruit smoothie brands. They’re available in four varieties: Magic Mango, Rise & Shine, Straw-nana Dream, and Tropical Passion.

“For Koia to make delicious, nutritious products that enable the everyday consumer to live a healthier life, we must continue to actively address one of the most significant health risks we currently face — sugar,” said Chris Hunter, Koia co-founder and CEO. “Koia has already removed a staggering two million pounds of sugar from the marketplace. But grocery coolers remain full of high-sugar, high-calorie beverage options that are masked as being healthy. That’s why we’re excited to expand our portfolio to include truly good-for-you fruit smoothie options, all with no added sugar and among the lowest sugar/net carb levels currently available.”

Koia says the smoothies contain prebiotic fiber (baobab powder, chicory root, chia seed), plant protein (pea), real fruit purees, coconut water and no added sugars.

Koia Fruit Smoothies join a full line of Protein and Keto shakes, Elevated Coffees, and Thrive, all of which are low-sugar/low net carbs, plant-based, dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free, and Non-GMO Project Verified—all with no artificial ingredients.
