At this year’s SupplySide West, mineral expert Omya will highlight a range of specialties from its US distribution portfolio, such as Berriotics™, DNA-certified botanical extracts; and a novel kombucha powder. With these offerings and its comprehensive formulation know-how, Omya is able to develop tailored products that meet both current market trends and customer needs.

Kombucha Powder
Omya’s newly launched kombucha powder serves the growing market for fermented foods and drinks. InstaKOMBU™ is a spray-dried, fermented kombucha powder from roasted, high mountain, small-leaf black tea. It also contains apple cider vinegar and the food standard kombucha SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast) well known for its health benefits. It is rich in organic acids, tea polyphenols and other healthy components.

With its excellent solubility and taste, it is ideal for use in applications such as tablets, capsules, sachets, powder mixes, meal replacements, juices, teas, yogurts and snacks. Furthermore, thanks to the unique production process, the product is free of maltodextrin.

Berry Power
Berriotics™ is another fermented powder in the company’s distribution portfolio. Created via a patented four-stage fermentation process, it consists of ten different kinds of berries, and contains bioavailable antioxidants, powerful microfibers and unique phenolic metabolites. The powder supports a healthy microbiome and has a complex spectrum of cardiovascular-friendly compounds.

Berriotics™ can be used in beverages, powder drink mixes, nutritional bars, yogurts, capsules and tablets. Visitors to the Omya booth will be able to sample InstaKOMBU™ and Berriotics™ Stick Packs, which can be quickly and easily dissolved in water.

Functional Fibers
Other prototype samples on show will be FiberJuice™ Stick Packs, which contain premium fruit juice without artificial colors or sucrose. This product is free flowing and highly stable, and suitable for use in dry and liquid blends in everyday foods, as well as functional and nutraceutical supplements. It contributes to a normal gut function thanks to the combination of four prebiotic dietary fibers containing fructo-oligosaccharide as the carrier.

Last but not least, Omya will present DNA-certified botanical extracts such as Thymox, a scientifically backed, dry powdered extract of Thymus vulgaris L. with 0.30% thymol supporting normal respiratory health and ENOTprost®, a clinically studied extract with a rich phytocomplex containing more than 15% of Oenothein B for male health.

Due to growing concerns regarding the authenticity of herbal products and whether they contain the botanical ingredient declared on the label, DNA testing has become ever-more important. Omya’s response to this market demand has been the inclusion of a broad range of DNA-certified extracts in its distribution portfolio. As the DNA code is a unique pattern in every living being, the technique is more accurate than any other identification system or analysis.

With these and other natural solutions, Omya is perfectly equipped to meet the latest market trends and consumer demands.
