The quest to cull carbohydrates from food products seems never-ending and has expanded to the ice cream aisles, which now boast Atkins-friendly offerings from such stalwarts as Good Humor-Breyer's (Green Bay, Wisc.), Dean Foods (Dallas) and Mayfield Dairy (Athens, Tenn.).

One of the most recent such launches comes from Ben & Jerry's (South Burlington, Vt.). An entire line of options is geared to sugar and carbohydrate watchers, while also diminishing some of the fat and calorie content.

Included among the line are such offerings as Carb Karma, No Sugar Added and Light Ice Cream flavors, in addition to Low-Fat Frozen Yogurts. The Carb Karma varieties include Half Baked, Chocolate and Vanilla Swiss Almond, with 2g to 5g of net carbohydrates per serving.

The No Sugar Added flavors are Strawberry and New York Super Fudge Chunk, both made with sucralose. For consumers concerned with fat content, Ben & Jerry's Light ice cream includes such flavors as Vanilla, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Chocolate Mint & Cookies.
