April 4/Park Ridge, Ill./Press Release -- This March saw American Egg Board (AEB) members elect chairman Roger Deffner as the organization’s chairman for 2013-2014.

Deffner is vice president, National Food Corporation, Everett, Wash., and has been involved with AEB since 2008. He most recently served on AEB’s executive committee. He previously chaired AEB’s Foodservice & Egg Product Marketing and Industry Programs Committees.

Others elected to executive committee posts were Greg Herbruck (vice chairman), Herbruck Poultry Ranch; Blair Van Zetten (secretary), Oskaloosa Food Products; Paul Sauder (treasurer), R.W. Sauder Inc.; Andrew Reichman, Parker & Reichman Inc.; and Pat Stonger, Daybreak Foods.

AEB said Deffner's first official duty was to present the 36th Commemorative Egg to First Lady Michelle Obama and President Obama at the White House Easter Egg Roll. Deffner was accompanied by AEB President and CEO Joanne C. Ivy.

“AEB executes a wealth of programs that we as individual egg farmers simply couldn’t do so successfully,” says Deffner. “Since first being appointed to the Board in 2008, I’ve seen an emphasis on strategic planning and perhaps even more importantly, strategic results. The entire team at AEB strives to ensure our investment is well spent. I’m honored to serve the egg industry in this role.”
