Ruffles Potato Fries in body

July 2/Plano, Texas -- Ruffles, one of the flagship brands from PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division, is adding a twist to one of America’s most popular side dishes. Ruffles Crispy Fries Potato Strips, available nationwide just in time for National French Fry Day on July 13, are the first-ever French fry-shaped snacks sliced from real potatoes.

The new product brings to life the French fry experience -- from the shape, to the taste, to the crunchy texture and even to the packaging. They can even be microwaved for a straight-from-the-diner flavor. Ruffles Crispy Fries Potato Strips are the latest offering from a brand known for creating flavors inspired by real foods guys love.

“Ruffles Crispy Fries Potato Strips are inspired by bar and diner foods guys really love, but packaged conveniently for on-the-go snacking,” said Christina Menendez, senior director of marketing, Frito-Lay North America. “These great tasting fries can be enjoyed anywhere, anytime, and are great on their own as a snack or a perfect accompaniment to hamburgers and hot dogs.”

Ruffles Crispy Fries Potato Strips are also rolling out just in time for National French Fry Day on July 13, a day dedicated to celebrating an American food staple. While French fries most likely originated in Belgium during World War I, according to numerous reports, the snack has become one of the most popular and iconic in modern America. Ruffles’ newest snack adds a unique spin on the long and celebrated history of the French fry.
