Seneca Foods Corp., Yakima, Wash., celebrates the 20th birthday of its original Apple Chips line. To do so, product developers have come up with two limited-edition flavors: Birthday Cake and Sea Salt Caramel.
In addition to providing a luxurious bite, either solo or as an accompaniment, Seneca Apple Chips are healthier than other traditional snack options.
“They are an indulgent snack yet healthier than many traditional options,” says Kathy Sheldon, Seneca’s vice president of category management. “There are no trans fats, no cholesterol and 30% less fat than a typical snack chip. It’s why you almost always find our chips in produce aisles rather than snack aisles.”
Made from fresh apples, Seneca Apple Chips can accompany a heart-healthy oatmeal or salad, be quickly stowed in a child’s lunch pail, or complement a cheese platter to be served at a fancy party, says Sheldon. The line features 10 gluten-free flavor varieties including Original, Golden Delicious, Carmel, Cinnamon, Granny Smith, Sour Apple, Dulce de Leche, Churro and the limited editions, Sea Salt Caramel and Birthday Cake. The company also makes Pear Chips in Original and Cinnamon in addition to Sweet Potato Chips in Sea Salt and Cinnamon flavors.
Seneca Foods also processes fruits and vegetables for retail, foodservice and international sales.
