Amano Enzyme USA used the recent IFT Food Expo to showcase a new line of non-GMO food enzymes.

Officials say the new non-GMO line joins Amano’s broader portfolio of enzymes—including proteases and lipases—already widely used in food applications. Moreover, new non-GMO enzymes also will be available worldwide through Amano’s various subsidiaries.

“A majority of the respondents to our recent market survey indicated that the availability of non-GMO food enzymes is important, and many feel it will drive innovation in the marketplace,” notes Ken Iritani, Amano vice president, technical services. “We already produced a number of non-GMO enzymes but as a quality producer of food enzymes—and sensitive to our customers’ needs—we wanted to be responsive to this growing trend.”

Iritani notes all enzymes must meet three criteria to qualify for the non-GMO portfolio:

*The organisms used to produce the enzymes are non-genetically engineered

*The fermentation media used is Identity Protected (IP) non-GMO.

*The carriers used also are Identity Protected (IP) non-GMO.”
