October 11/Westlake Village, Cal./The Associated Press -- Fruit and vegetable seller Dole Food Co. said it acquired all the stock of the parent of SunnyRidge Farm Inc., which sources and sells blueberries and a variety of other berries.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

SunnyRidge's "premium blueberry and blackberry operations are an excellent strategic complement to our existing fresh and frozen berry operations, both of which have previously focused on strawberries," said Dole Food CEO David A. DeLorenzo.

Dole has been reducing debt and raising prices to improve results. The Westlake Village-based company said in July its third-quarter net income rose sharply and revenue rose about 10% to $1.92 billion.
