General Mills’ Progresso Soup brand continues to bring flavorful options to the table. With six new varieties, officials say the entire Progresso ready-to-eat soup line now includes more than 90 flavors to meet everyone's taste preferences—any time of day.

"Families are looking for more options to add to their menus that are fast, fulfilling and flavorful," says Valerie Mastroianna, associate marketing manager, Progresso Soup. "Our soups are made with high quality ingredients and crafted with care, offering homemade taste in a convenient way."

"Many Progresso consumers are seeking exciting new flavor options, but are also looking to manage their weight. They don't want to sacrifice great flavor while watching their calories," adds Jill Haspert, associate marketing manager, Progresso Soup. "Progresso offers 40 soups with 100 calories or less per serving that are great ways to manage calories while still enjoying the creamy, savory flavors our consumers are craving."

For those looking for savory soups with hearty vegetables, discover two new Vegetable Classic flavors—Tuscan-Style White Bean and Southwestern-Style Corn with Potatoes & Peppers.

Consumers are striving to eat more vegetables, but often fall short of the recommended amount. In fact, less than 10% (1) of adults are getting enough vegetables in their diets due to barriers such as price, convenience, and taste. Progresso Vegetable Classic soups address many of these barriers, providing a great-tasting, easy way to add more vegetables to consumers' daily routines. With more than 20 flavors with 1/2 cup of vegetables per serving, Progresso offers a variety of options that are loaded with vegetables and packed with taste.

"While consumers know it is important to eat their veggies, they often get bored with their vegetable routines. We believe vegetables taste better in soup because they are simmered in our savory broth and seasoned with the perfect blend of herbs and spices," says Mastroianna. "Whether it's our classic Minestrone, with thick cut carrots and green beans, or our new Tuscan-Style White Bean, loaded with juicy tomatoes and tender great northern beans, our soups are both delicious and satisfying."

Progresso Light introduces two new flavorful soups with 100 calories or less. All Progresso Light soups have 100 calories or less per serving that may help with weight management as part of a healthy lifestyle.

One new offering here is Progresso Light Creamy Chicken Alfredo with Pasta, which contains 100 calories per serving with no artificial flavors or added MSG (3).  The new Light Savory Beef Barley Vegetable has 80 calories per serving, is low fat, and has no artificial flavors or added MSG (3). Both flavors have at least 33% fewer calories than regular ready-to-serve soup (4).

Progresso Light soup is the only light soup endorsed by Weight Watchers® and all flavors are 2 PointsPlus® value per serving or less.

What about consumers looking for creamy, hearty, home-style soups? To satisfy these tastes, Progresso introduces Traditional Creamy Roasted Chicken with Herb Dumplings and Creamy Tomato with Bacon and Cheese.

Creamy Roasted Chicken with Herb Dumplings combines a savory broth with chicken, onions, carrots, celery and spaetzle dumplings. The Creamy Tomato with Bacon and Cheese is a delicious blend of cheese, real bacon, and creamy tomatoes, seasoned with a hint of garlic. Both make for a nice option any time of the day, and they have no artificial flavors or added MSG3.

All Progresso soups are available nationally in the soup aisle and have a suggested retail price of $2.39 (Vegetable Classics)/$2.69 (Light and Traditional) per 18.5 oz.-can.
