Sager Creek, producer of specialty canned vegetables sourced from America's farmers since 1926, debuted its foodservice line of hummus at the School Nutrition Association's Annual National Conference. The brand is cueing up this new product just in time, as food trend-tracking group Baum and Whiteman predicts 2015 will be hummus' year to shine.

Made with 100 percent natural ingredients including chickpeas, tahini and olive oil, Sager Creek Hummus is shelf-stable and is packaged in easy-to-store cans.

"Hummus is a versatile product that can be incorporated into everything from vegetarian sandwiches and wraps, salads to grab & go snacks and entrees. Sager Creek is making it easier than ever for the foodservice industry to serve hummus in new and innovative ways," said Joe Rastetter, Vice President of Sales, Sager Creek Vegetable Company. "The added layer of excitement with this product is that it's on the verge of exploding in popularity."

Sager Creek canned hummus is available in three flavors – Classic, Chipotle and Spinach. It's kettle-cooked in small batches for an authentic homemade texture with no preservatives. Each 31-oz. can provides nine ½ cup servings of vegetables or nine 2-oz. meat/meat-alternate servings.

"We're pleased to offer operators across the food service industry a product that can be leveraged for any meal and can deliver on either vegetable or meat requirements as a part of national nutrition standards," said Rastetter.
