Bay State Milling Company announced that its Board of Directors has selected Peter Levangie as Chief Executive Officer and President, effective September 1, 2016. Levangie has held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer at Bay State Milling since 2008.

“The vote by our Board of Directors is a demonstration of our confidence in Peter to provide continuing leadership and growth for our company while adhering to our core purpose and values,” commented Bernard “Buck” Rothwell, III, Chairman of Bay State Milling Company. “During his career with us, Peter has proven himself to be an extremely capable executive who builds on the foundation of the past while innovating to take advantage of the opportunities we see in the future.”

Levangie succeeds Brian G. Rothwell, who has led the Company for thirty years as both President and then CEO. Brian Rothwell stated, “This has been a seamless process, which began 11 years ago when we first met, and I recruited Peter to help us refine Bay State Milling’s strategy. Peter’s progression from there to CEO has been steady and successful at every turn; to the point where I am more excited than ever about Bay State’s position in the marketplace and what the Company will accomplish in the future under his leadership. I look forward to continuing to work with Peter in my new capacity as Vice Chair and Head of Business Development, and as I spend more time in the field with customers and supply chain partners.”

“I am honored and humbled to succeed Brian as CEO. I will lead Bay State Milling Company on the shoulders of the strong family leadership that has come before me and with the support of the experienced and professional management team we have in place today,” stated Levangie. Citing the challenges presented by today’s ever-changing consumer preferences, he added, “I look forward to serving our customers by delivering quality ingredients, exceptional service and innovative solutions for plant-based foods.”

The Company is privately held and family owned, with several members of the fifth generation now occupying roles of increasing responsibility throughout the company.
