ADM/Matsutani LLC showcased Fibersol®, the premier line of soluble prebiotic dietary fiber ingredients, at the 2018 SupplySide West (SSW) in Las Vegas.

The Fibersol line of ingredients is included in the FDA’s list of dietary fibers and can fulfill consumer desires for tasty, fiber-full products that are well tolerated and have demonstrated satiety benefits.

Consumers are interested in low-calorie, reduced-sugar and no-sugar-added foods and beverages with clean and simple labels. They are in tune with their personal health and wellness, and are seeking healthier foods that still taste great. According to a 2017 report by The Hartman Group, 63% of respondents say they are trying to add fiber to their diets. Fibersol’s functional benefits can help product developers create new and improved food, beverage and supplement products that taste great and enable a variety of label claims, including sugar and calorie reduction, digestive health or weight management that consumers are seeking.

“For SupplySide West, we developed great-tasting products that highlight Fibersol’s health benefits, functionality and versatility,” said Doris Dougherty, Fibersol Technical Service Representative, ADM. “Fibersol is an ideal drop-in solution for formulators who are responding to consumer desire for healthier foods, as Fibersol contains 90% dietary fiber and has a low calorie content, having little to no impact on taste or texture. It can help formulators increase the fiber content and improve the nutritional profile of virtually any food, beverage or supplement.”

Visitors to SSW booth #4250 were invited to sample the following great-tasting treats that feature Fibersol, including:

•    Digestive health cultured beverage–This dairy-free plant-based coconut caramel flavored beverage contains 6g of prebiotic fiber from Fibersol and contains 60% less sugar (only 5g of sugar) per 8oz serving.

•    Fiber gummies–These gummies include 4g of soluble corn fiber per serving and are an easy way for consumers to add fiber to their diets.

These products demonstrate how Fibersol can help developers meet consumer demand for better nutrition. When used in foods and beverages, Fibersol requires minimal formulation and process adjustments, is tasteless and odorless and adds minimal viscosity. In addition, it can mask off and bitter notes, improve mouthfeel and offer excellent binding properties. For vitamins and supplements, it is a lower-calorie carrier and is also available in tableting form.

Over 30 years of clinical research and almost 100 published studies have contributed to demonstrating Fibersol’s physiological benefits. These studies outline how Fibersol helps maintain intestinal regularity, attenuate post-meal blood glucose levels, and retain healthy post-meal serum triglycerides. Recent studies have also shown Fibersol to be a prebiotic fiber that provides an increased feeling of satiety. In addition, many studies have confirmed that Fibersol is well tolerated, even when tested at a consumption rate as high as 68g per day.

Fibersol is a digestion resistant maltodextrin and can be labeled as “soluble corn fiber,” “soluble vegetable fiber (corn),” “digestion resistant maltodextrin,” “resistant maltodextrin” or “maltodextrin.” Fibersol is available in a variety of formats to meet the needs of a wide range of applications, including: dry, liquid, agglomerated powder and non-GMO.
