Gold Coast Ingredients (GCI) officially opened its new S.M.A.R.T. Center. Located in its Santa Fe Springs, Calif., location, Gold Coast has dedicated the new operation to “Sales, Marketing, Applications, Research, and Technology.” All those functions now are together under one roof in order to maximize its creative efforts.
With more than 10 new laboratories, GCI’s S.M.A.R.T. Center focuses on developing custom flavors and colors, as well as extracts, flavor modifiers, and ingredient enhancers. The GCI S.M.A.R.T. Center has independent laboratories for sweet and savory flavors, natural colors, flavor modifiers, as well as a separate analytical lab.
In addition, the S.M.A.R.T. Center has a commercial-style kitchen and a full laboratory dedicated to application development and testing. The commercial kitchen is designed for development work with hot products (baked goods, confectionery, sauces, fillings, etc.) and the lab is set up for cold products (beverages, ice cream, frozen treats, etc.). Gold Coast’s Applications Team works hands-on with customers to find the most complementary flavors, colors, and usage (concentration) levels for their finished product. Every day is a new sensory experience at GCI's S.M.A.R.T. Center.
Gold Coast will still maintain its corporate offices, manufacturing, customer support, regulatory, quality control, and purchasing departments at its Commerce, Calif., facility.
